think laura stands a much better chance than when she played wozniacki at roland garros as the grass can hide, to a certain extent, her poor movement. still going to be a tough one though
would be amazed if bally can pull it off but she has been playing with a lot of confidence so fingers crossed
im gunna back heather to win this one... she seems to be fully over her illness & i like the gamestyle match-up
Well Done Bally and Laura. Good wins for different reasonds. I hope Laura can do the business in round 2, i just feel like she's due another big tournament.
Shame for Johanna, thought she'd win that one. But maybe i'm expecting too much
My summary of the day: Jo's best shots neutralised by Hsieh, Jo has a great record against Asian players but unfortunately Hsieh doesn't play to that typical style. Bally was just terrific, loads of long punishing rallies in a high quality match, looking back to her best is my honest opinion. Laura seemed happy afterwards and was straight onto the practice courts. From my seat up in the sky's it seemed like a solid performance but will really need to step it up tomorrow to have any chance of bearing Woz. Did anyone hear my tame efforts of shouting out Come on Laura?!Woz and Rors left halfway through the second set after having seen enough.
Hey philwrig, wondered whether your were still there, I did try and spot you in the crowd in Laura's game.
I am glad for Laura. Her service percentage was up and her action seems to have changed - Miles maybe? That to me seemed to be her playing middle of the road, so plenty of scope for playing better or worse against Caro. We'll just have to see which Robbo turns up tomorrow. I have no doubt she can beat Caro if duff Laura doesn't make a showing..
I was really pleased especially for Bally too as she's had such a hard time in the last year. Nice that her wildcard was justified
Congrats to Hev too as that is her second highest scalp.
I'm really hacked off with the Beeb though. On their text service (red button), they've only reported on Robbo's win, and not even mentioned the other two. Ironical thing is if they had both lost I would have bet on her losing too.
Good win for Bally and Laura got the job done against a limited opponent though she will need a better showing against Wozniacki.
A shame Heather isn't on centre as she deserves a match on the BBC after such a good win. She might settle for an outside court but avoiding a top 20 player though
Didn't quite seem to believe despite getting in to good positions against heavy favourites.
Given a reasonable draw at SW19 though, Sam & Jade could win a round. I think, well, um, doubles is not Johanna's strongest point, so Anne may struggle to carry her.
If you saw the doubles match at Nottingham the other week, then Anne and Jo were equally as bad and I have never rated Anne as doubles player, her volleying is dire to say the least!!

Unfortunately I could only follow scores yesterday. Today I will hopefully be glued to the screen and expect to see and hear you fully representing British Tennis Forum members

Where you there on Monday Phil? I thought I spotted you crouched down watching Laura and Lisa on court 2. Perhaps it was a doppelgänger...
Lot's of exciting matches today both at Eastbourne and Wimbledon qualies. The British girls are underdogs in all of them so it is a case of who can raise their game and spring an upset.
