Week 25 - WTA Premier $690K - Eastbourne, UK grass

Not a pretty draw for our girls here.
Three against some of the hottest upcoming players right now, at the top of their form, and an all Brit knockout. Only Anna has an in any way helpful draw.

Q1: (WC) Amanda CARRERAS (GBR) 320 vs. Jamie HAMPTON (USA) 42 [q1] (= CH)
Q1: (WC) Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR) 457 vs. Madison KEYS (USA) 53 [q2] (= CH)
Q1: Anne KEOTHAVONG (GBR) 211 vs. Tara MOORE (GBR) 194
Q1: (WC) Anna FITZPATRICK (GBR) 819 vs. Yuliya BEYGELZIMER (UKR) 199 (CH: 83 09/2006)
Q1: (WC) Lucy BROWN (GBR) vs. Eugenie BOUCHARD (CAN) 67 [q5] (= CH)

All H2H are 0-0 including, surprisingly to me at least, Tara vs. Anne.

I thought it might be easier (and, er, less controversial!) just to merge the two threads into the later one with the correct title.

JoKo Has a MDWC and I would hazard a guess that the other one will go to Bally now.

No Samantha Murray and can we say cause Emily Webley smith is here that she's not playing in Wimbledon qualifying?

Thank you, sorry for the error.

This is a Premier Tier event.

Sorry, i looked to see if Eastbourne was there, saw Birmingham 25th week, added one week and posted it without realising it was not the Edgbaston event.

Sam's a surprising absentee given there is no conflict with Wimbledon. It has been known for Brits in Wimbledon qualifying to try their luck here. If they qualify and miss out on Wimbledon (like Amanda Janes a few years ago) playing Eastbourne main draw is good compensation.  Hence can't be sure with EWS

For future reference, in a thread like this you have to change the title of the original first post rather than the new first post to get the correct title to appear in the list of threads. It probably should have been obvious too me, but I changed the (new) first post's title first without thinking then had to go back and change the other one.

Interesting draw, though not particularly helpful to the British girls. Tara will definitely want a win to establish herself as the GB No. 4, and it would be a good effort if any of the up and coming North Americans are challenged.

Reasonable draws for the girls so far

Laura and Elena have qualifiers, Hev v Lepchenko

JoKo v Hsieh (who was awful at Birmingham)

Tara takes the 1st set 6-4.  Meanwhile Lucy loses the 1st set to Genie 6-3.

The first set between Lucy & Genie was only one break, and it was Genie taking the only BP of any description, for either player, that decided it.

Tara came from a break down in that first set to take it.

Edit: to avoid duplication of WD40's post.

Just like Amanda earlier, EWS has picked herself up in the second set, and now leads it.
0-6 *3-1

Additional: Karolina Pliskova did win, and will be Tara's opponent in the next round.
