And Mel South is also on the OOP, so she must have beaten Sabrina 0&2 (rather than lost to her 0&2), which was what I'm sure 99.9% of us expected.

Phew!

I know we didn't need the confirmation, but Mel has provided it anyway:

Gabi still looking like a great prospect then. It's a shame she's too far out to play Wimby Junior Quals. Do they give out wildcards for that event?

Just out of interest and I know i should know this but how many ranking points are available in qualifying rounds. I'm assuming if Harriet wins she will get her ranking back about the 900 mark?

What? None!!!

You are, I presume, aware this is a Brit only qualifying tournament to get a qualifying WC. Perhaps the thread title should make this clearer, but I though it was self-evident

Actually, since both Andrew Castle and John Lloyd (who are being paid for their knowledge and insight) also didn't know what the tournament was, perhaps it's not clear. But in the case of Castle, he was probably told, but wasn't listening; and with Lloyd he probably couldn't be bothered to do any prep ahead of the grass court season.

I believe it's the same as the other Grand Slams 40pts for 1st round win 50pts 2rd win and 60pts for qualifying.

Edit. OK wasn't clear 1st time.

Well done, Mel. Get it out there straight, before the LTA site has chance to mess it up (still have the page saved that Korriban flagged with Indonesia reported as India and two results wrong and back to front).

Oh, and well done on winning the match too.

This is the third year in a row that Katy has reached the playoff deciders, which are both intriguing experience v youth battles.

Both ITF H2Hs are 0-0 but William Dalton on Twitter reminds me that Katy beat Mel in straight sets at Bolton British Tour earlier this year.

The playoff winners from 2009-12 were:

2012: Anna Fitzpatrick & Katy Dunne (who met today - see above)
2011: Samantha Murray & Fran Stephenson (Jade Windley got an extra QWC as a losing-semi-finalist)
2010: Lisa Whybourn & Joss Rae (Lucy Brown got an extra QWC as a losing semi-finalist)
2009: Amanda Elliott & Liz Thomas

I'm happy with any of the 4 getting a QWC. If Mel wins then she's earned her place in qualies and can continue to build her confidence in singles. Katy looks like a decent prospect and put in a solid performance in qualies last year (according to reports on here). Anna is making her way back from injury so it would be a nice reward after the last 6/7 months of progression. Harriet looked pretty useful in her match against Noppawan Lertcheewarkarn so could also do well if she were to come through.
