Think we've had this argument with RJA before. Just about all if our top women have been born overseas likewise their family background. Depends on the way you look at it I guess. I'm sure Henman and Murray had discipline issues in younger days particularly Henman. The game need characters give Klein a chance I say. What is wrong with calling someone a gorilla anyway I'm struggling to see how that's racist? Was it not in relation to grunting noises on court. Correct me if I'm wrong.

My problem with Klein is not that he was born overseas. My problem is that he has never done anything to suggest that he considers himself anything other than Australian. His changing of nationality strikes me as an entirely cynical and self serving move in response to Tennis Australia removing his funding.
As for disciplinary issues, I am far from the most draconian on this matter, but there is a difference between ill discipline and sustained abuse towards opponents over a number of years. There are plenty of British players guilty of sustained bad behaviour on court but by and large they are not abusive. From what I can see just about everyone involved in Australian Tennis is glad that they shut of this guy. I have browsed a lot of tennis forums looking for information on him and barely anyone has a good word to say about him.
Looks like no alternates signed in so O'Mara got a walkover

No Sandman. We only have Murray, Ward ( WC) and Edmund ( WC ) in the main draw. Giving a MD WC to Dan would not have been in place of any Brit, but additional to these three.
And I am sure that Dan would have preferred the big guaranteed MD first round prize simply by having a WC in.
It appears from earlier posts that he was denied a MD WC due to some non tennis happening.
They can but surely he would have been promoted by now.... I suppose the only way he can receive one now if that he does play qualies at Eastbourne and gets through qualifying he may well receive one but James Ward did the same a few years ago and missed out by doing this so I doubt it.
Also hasn't someone already posted that he has said himself he doesn't deserve one mainly due to off court problems so maybe he has been offered one but turned it down??

So, if I understand rightly, (and I'm not sure I do) there are still 4 wildcards for the men's MD for the AELTC to award.
When do they have to decide? And who are the likely contenders ? Surely some of the contenders (most?) will be players inscribed for the qualies i.e. Kudla is doing well at Queens but, presumably, isn't in the main draw ? (He's WR 112 but maybe was higher at the cut-off day). But the qualies start in a couple of days.
SO if Kudla (as an example) is promoted with a WC, then that opens a place in qualies. But that person may be playing Eastbourne qualies. Is it too late to promote a qualie person ? (Kudla or indeed Dan Evans?). And, if so, who on earth gets the MD WC in that case ?

I think for the main draw wildcards, they can wait until the draw is made which is next Friday but they are usually announced before qualifying starts. But I am pretty sure that the winner of the Aegon challenger will receive one unless they are already in and some one also doing well at queens like Kudla which you have said. But what will most likey happen if there are a wildcard or two spare, they will go to the next person in rather than to a Brit which has happened in past years!!
