Just flicking back through the old GB top 25 tables, here are the players who have got QWCs through the playoffs in the last five years:
2012: Eaton & Rice 2011: Smethurst & A Ward 2010: Cox & Evans (when Evo, like Klein this year, was the highest-ranked player in the play-offs by a long way) 2009: Smethurst & Willis (+ Milton) 2008: Cox & Marray (+ Eaton)
The (+ ...)s are players who got QWCs despite losing in the last round of the play-offs and it is possible that I have missed one of those on just a very quick look at the previous years' tables. Chris of course lost to Jonny Marray in the final round of the playoffs the year he went on to become the last British qualifier and reach R2.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!

Ah yes, the summer 2010. The year that Evo didn't get a single wild card during the summer even though based on his ranking he clearly should have (players ranked lower than him did). He was absolutely hung out to dry by the LTA for his role in Davis Cup disaster against Lithuania and then having the temerity to be falsely accused of sexual assault. Not only did the LTA completely abandon him but they were blatantly briefing the press against him as well.
It is always worth remembering that while Evo has frequently received support from the LTA that the way he was treated in 2010 was absolutely disgusting
Well done to Lewis... could definitely be the win he needed to get some confidence back after not the best showings in Nottingham. His game will suit the Roehampton grass courts even more with them not being the best grass courts and with the right draw who knows
