Haha no worries, although I dont understand why we dont have playoffs for Main draw wildcards then there wouldn't be as much fuss or debate over who deserves and what not!
So, if I understand rightly, (and I'm not sure I do) there are still 4 wildcards for the men's MD for the AELTC to award.
When do they have to decide? And who are the likely contenders ? Surely some of the contenders (most?) will be players inscribed for the qualies i.e. Kudla is doing well at Queens but, presumably, isn't in the main draw ? (He's WR 112 but maybe was higher at the cut-off day). But the qualies start in a couple of days.
SO if Kudla (as an example) is promoted with a WC, then that opens a place in qualies. But that person may be playing Eastbourne qualies. Is it too late to promote a qualie person ? (Kudla or indeed Dan Evans?). And, if so, who on earth gets the MD WC in that case ?
I think for the main draw wildcards, they can wait until the draw is made which is next Friday but they are usually announced before qualifying starts. But I am pretty sure that the winner of the Aegon challenger will receive one unless they are already in and some one also doing well at queens like Kudla which you have said. But what will most likey happen if there are a wildcard or two spare, they will go to the next person in rather than to a Brit which has happened in past years!!
Many thanks for that.
But then they really have to announce it before the qualies start because if they want to give it to the next person on the list (which is fair enough) you obviously can't have that person play one round of Q and then be 'upgraded'.
And you don't want to leave yourself in the position where all the potential WCs are in the qualies and now you've got no one to give it to (barring someone off the street). And presumably if it frees up a Q place they want to have enough time to alert a replacement.

So I guess we should hear today or tomorrow.
Yeah we should hear within the next couple of days but tbh I cant see any other Brit receiving one now (other than Dan but doubt it)
However, I guess that if they promote 4 of the best from the quali draw then that will free up 4 places in the Qs.
Do you think they could give two of those to the semi-finalists in the QWC play-offs ? I mean, some of the best logical contenders, i.e. those sitting on the cusp of QWC cut-off ranking, are presumably not in England at the moment or playing elsewhere.
(Particular thought for Dave Rice if he loses to Klein in the semis).
Obviously one is reserved for the winner of the Nottingham-2 challenger. Another was ear marked for Monfils, but he withdrew his request earlier this week. Kygios has also requested one. Can't really see too many obvious contenders.
Either Devvarman or Johnson, if they don't win, might be contenders - Devvarman as one coming back from injury and Johnson as a rapid riser. Kudla, as mentioned above. Kyrgios another rapid riser. Busta?

No because 8 qualifying wildcards are available and 6 have been used with the two playoff winners getting the next two so that will mean the next in line to qualifying will get in.

Dave has just beaten Dan in 3 sets, so (much as expected) it will be Dave v Brydan tomorrow to decide one of the QWCs.
They have met twice before, with Klein winning both - on grass at Roehampton juniors back in 2006 when it went to two tiebreak sets and also in Antalya in 2011, when Brydan won a lot more easily, 1 & 2.

Regardless of my views on Klein I really hope that Rice can win this as I thought he deserved a qwc following his recent form. Of course if he loses tomorrow he will have missed out on a qwc for Wimbledon and will have missed out on the chance to play Eastbourne quallies.
Well done to Dave, another good win (Dan's not ranked 373 for nothing).
I too hope he wins tomorrow, although Klein is obviously playing quite well.
It's a shame about the QWC - I'd have given him one (obviously!). And there will be up to 4 more Q places available when the four extra MD WCs get attributed. But if they have to go to the next Q direct entry names on the list then so be it.
