Week 24 - Challenger (€64,000) - Nottingham 2 (grass) - doubles

Confirmation of Spectator's speculative question on the Nottingham 1 doubles thread:

R1:  (WC) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski WR 616 vs Vasek Pospisil & Bobby Reynolds (CAN/USA) WR 493
R1:  (WC) David Rice & Sean Thornley WR 396 vs Chris Guccione & Jordan Kerr (AUS/AUS) WR 225
R1:  Steve Johnson & Jack Sock (USA/USA) WR 226 vs (3) Jamie Delgado & Matt Ebden (AUS) WR 166

The winners of the latter two encounters face one another in the QF.  Matt Ebden's clearly got his eye in again on grass, having won the singles title at Nottingham 1 by beating the seventh seed without being seeded himself, but something tells me Johnson & Sock are going to prove a bit of a handful...

Close, but not close enough:

R1:  Chris Guccione & Jordan Kerr (AUS/AUS) WR 225 defeated (WC) David Rice & Sean Thornley WR 396 by 6-3 7-6(2) [10-4] cry

Meh. Wanted them to win as I would also like them to get a Wimbledon WC - having been done out of one in the past! Oh well.

The Skupski bandwagon just keeps rolling along, it seems:

R1:  (WC) Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski WR 616 defeated Vasek Pospisil & Bobby Reynolds (CAN/USA) WR 493 by 1 & 4 biggrin

At least 17 more points in the bag for Neal. smile  Trouble is,their QF opponents will almost certainly be the top seeds, Demoliner & Monroe (WR 150). hmm

As Demoliner lost to Jonny O'Mara in his first ever grass match during singles qualies I don't they'll be shaking in their boots.

Two close sets for the Skupski's and they could have had either of them.
Well done Mr. Delgado.
