RE: Week 24 - ATP 250 - London Queen's Club, UK (grass)

Judging from Flashscores alone, that looked like a monster 3rd game.

Ed hangs on to his serve. 2-1*

I'll respond to your post, Bob, since Steven appears to have deleted the comment/question I was saving until I got home (had a pretty busy afternoon at work & the tennis was proving a serious distraction... hmm ) & I rather think I know why. wink  Of course I've been following Dino's exploits in the last few months (& since long before that!) & of course I'm well aware of the considerable resilience he showed in the DC tie in Birmingham.  It's just that I very little faith in the ability of all but a tiny handful of top (as opposed to half-way decent) sportsmen & women in this country not to crumble under intense pressure & to press home any advantage they engineer as soon as it presents itself.  That said, I make that remark in the desperate hope that James would somehow prove me wrong.  I was bitterly disappointed to discover that he hadn't. cry

It wasn't me! biggrin LOL (also I'm not quite sure how anyone could have deleted a comment/question you were saving to post when you got home ... or maybe I have misunderstood what you meant?)

Ed has now saved 7/7 break points in the 2nd set - it looked like the 9th game was going to be a killer again, but he holds from 0-40 down - 4-6 5-4*

I suggested this chap's name when we were discussing Boggo's well-publicised mental frailty a couple of years or so ago, having remembered reading an article in The Sunday Times at about the time of the Beijing Olympics about the transformation he'd brought about in the mental attitude of some of our Olympic cyclists & also of Dylan Hartley, the England hooker.

Frankly I can't believe that we still only have one televised court at Queen's. It is quite simply pathetic.

You have.  wink  I hadn't physically saved anything, though I dare say I could've copied & pasted your post into a an e-mail to my home address when I saw it & then worked on it here.  I'd merely made a mental note of what you said so that I could pursue it once I logged on here.  Alles klar?

2nd set tiebreak:

0-1*

*1-2 2nd serve ace
*1-3
1-4*
1-5*

Ed hasn't held serve in the tiebreak yet, hopefully changing ends will make a difference ...

A bit less pressure for Kyle, not being on Centre, but we don't get to see him play

Probably good for him. Especially as he might get some half decent support on the outside courts as opposed to what laughably gets described as a crowd on centre court.

I'm planning on going tomorrow, and a ground pass will let me see Kyle smile

I'll cheer him on as loudly as I can!!

Mr Corrie was competitive; as first ATP matches go, it wasn't bad. Not the case for a Wimbledon WC that would have been made by a win, but good nonetheless. Be nice to have another Challenger-level player.
