For the sweepstake, assuming (praying) that our girls have been practicing on grass:

5 games for Danieka - Caroline has barely ever played on grass, I believe, and may well be thrown by it)
5 games for Jessica - the Colombian lady is nearly 34 so pretty experienced but didn't play on grass at all last year, I think, so Jess should be able to sneak some games
1 games for Sabrina - I'd put 0 coz that's life but double-bagels are pretty rare
3 games for Eden - Sharon also has barely any grass victories

so that's 14 in total

Last time Caroline Garcia played, she only won 3 games but her opponent was arguably of a slightly higher standard to Danieka...

I don't think 7 games has been taken yet so I'll go for that.

LOL well done Bob. I'm sure most of the rest of us are hoping to be proved wrong, but trying to be realistic about what would constitute ok performances given the huge rankings gaps. If Coup Droit ends up being correct, they will have all done very well under the circumstances!

L56: (WC) Melanie South WR 474 v (16) Magdaléna Rybáriková (SVK) WR 52 (CH 40 in 2009) - H2H 0-1, 3&5, Monterrey 2008
L56: (14) Heather Watson WR 48 v Melinda Czink (HUN) WR 110 (CH 37 in 2009) - H2H 0-1, 6&4, Nottingham 2011
L56: (WC) Anne Keothavong WR 186 v Qualifier - winner plays (4) Tamira Paszek (AUT) in R2
L56: (7) Laura Robson WR 37 has a bye & plays Daniela Hantuchová or a qualifier in R2
L56: (WC) Johanna Konta WR 166 v Qualifier
L56: (WC) Tara Moore WR 194 v (12) Kristina Mladenovic (FRA) WR 46 (CH 43 last month)

This is from the tournament's Twitter account, where they have already corrected Tara's draw (they originally said she had Mel's opponent) - Mel looks to have been awarded a very late wild card after somebody else withdrew or an existing WC got in direct. Heather must be seeded too but outside the top 8, as must Tara and Mel's opponents, and the order of the above matches may not match the order in the draw - I'll edit later.

Now edited - turns out the last three matches are all in the same 1/8th of the draw!

Is there a prize? What about a signed Greggs voucher for Bagels Breadsticks and Sausage Rolls? ( A sausage roll equals 2 games as the S rolled round looks like a 2 by the way).

This thread already a low point for the forum.

I'm glad that I've decided not to go on Sunday seeing that poor GB turnout for qualifying.

However I think you will be surprised that I'm going high on total games - 18 - Sabrina may really struggle, but I wouldn't put it past one of the other girls to do something surprising.

Really looking forward to see Tara play, as I haven't see her play before. Hope she gets a decent draw.

Just wait til the results come in then

Seriously though lighten up a bit. The thread only is highlighting the oddity of qualifiers where the balance is all wrong makes a mock of qualifiers in general I'd say. Which in turn is what we are doing.

Having said that there is always the chance of a surprise and we would love that to happen.

In the main draw I have a hunch that Tara might do well here for some reason last 16 or quarters??
