Just looking at Tara's match statistics, she won 118 points and MLA won 116 points, Tara got 4 aces 5 DF and the MLA got 10 aces 10 DF ! i guess Tara lost the points in the wrong time!
Laura lost 6-3, 6-4. No great surprise really Hantuchova played a solid game. From what I could see, she just didn't look very inspired or up for it, and her footwork was pretty bad.
Well today went about as well as the French Open :(
I feared Laura might struggle after yesterday and she started really slowly and although she improved as the match went on Hantuchova didn't give her a chance of serve in the second set - on a grass court more than anywhere else Laura will be punished for one sloppy service game per set. Bizarrely Laura was broken more times (3) than she lost points behind her first serve (2) as both players couldn't make many first serve returns. Laura's timing and footwork wasn't great today and I do wonder how much grass court practice she has had since recovering from her back injury.
Looks from the scores that JoKo started really well but faded or her opponent improved as the match went on.
Well, Laura won two more games, and lasted 20 minutes longer than in Doha earlier in the year. She doesn't look happy right now from the moment she gets on the court.
Johanna again had forehand issues, and serve issues, and Kiki was a level above yesterday, and too good today.
All rather dis-spiriting really, late lunch on Wednesday and the Brits are done save for the Anne/Johanna doubles. Also, as this is that weird thing, a 64 draw International event, JoKo & Heather don't even get great reward for the matches they did win.
Over to Nottingham then...
