Drawn same girl in dubs too. Got 2nd seed in singles and first seed in doubles. Considering Sam got double bagelled that's not the best of luck for the Beddow siblings.

While we are often keen to push players to leave their British comfort zone, one is tempted to wonder whether all of the time (and carbon) expended by the Beddow siblings in their peregrinations is being helpfully used. When Ms Beddow did a series of futures in Greece/Turkey, she actually did quite well. Perhaps a repeat of clusters of tournaments closer to home would be both environmentally/economically friendly and a sound investment in results?

Is she not based in the states?

If she is, then I take back my eco comments (and suggestion about doing a block in Greece/Turkey)! And freely admit to the perils of making comments based on too little information.

Something I never thought I'd find myself saying ...

Robyn Beddow is the last GB woman standing in a WTA-ranked singles event this week.

The last GB woman standing did twice as well as last time against Sánchez ... and won infinitely more games than her brother here:

R1: BEDDOW, Robyn (GBR) 1107 lost to SANCHEZ, Ana Sofia (MEX) 2 488 by 1 & 1
