I would say it's 20-30 minutes walk from Five Ways or the University station, better bet is to take the 61, 62 or 63 bus along the Bristol Road (rubery, rednal, longbridge or northfield will be on buses), and get off at Junction with priory road, 5-10 minutes bus ride from city centre. buy a day saver with correct change, and take any bus any where that day.
correction here! they want pedestrians to use the Sir Harry's road entrance, not Priory road, so if coming from city centre, need to get off earlier, no real landmarks to help. Five ways station nearer, but still min 20 mins walk.

Thanks Miriambee. Is it quite obvious from Five ways? Is it a manned station where I can ask the way?
I've just google mapped a route, it's straightforward, the station exit is on the lee bank middleway, go out of the station, turn right (probably, but anyway so you head downhill, go right at the traffic lights into Wheeleys Road, and keep walking into Arthur road till you do a left turn into Sir harry's road - go down hill and it's on the right. It's very pleasant, leafy Edgbaston at it's best. I have done it ( and further) so I estimate 15 minutes if your'e reasonably brisk.
At that time of the day the station will be manned. The station is the first stop after new street on the longbridge/redditch line. it's a 3 minute journey and trains run about every 15 minutes.
Thanks paulsi. I've already got my tickets, so I guess I'll just get there for start of play. Were there any restrictions on what you could bring into the grounds? philwig, (or anyone else for that matter) are you going to be there Thursday?
Thursday will be busy cos it's ladies day - they gave away 250 goodie bags to the first ones through the gates last year.
Restrictions - none that I know of - there were couples with pushchairs - security and info are readily visible but nobody's checking on you or stopping you bringingyour own food or drinks in that I could see. They are fussy about their members only areas too. You won't be able to stray far off the public paths by accident.
Toilets are at the back of the sales/merchandise area which is behind the west stand.
I definately can't come Thursday. If the weather isn't getting much better - at the top of the stands it's very windy. The security round centre court were either taken up with school kids moving around and making sure people were not going in and out except at the player sit down breaks.

I think Arthur Road is wrong (if you get to the traffic lights you've gone too far) - turn left into Ampton Road keep going straight on - Sir Harry's is obvious as it's cone lined on both sides

I will be there, but after today's action I can't say I'm excited about tomorrow as I might have been with no Brits left, I will buy my ticket on the day. If you want to give me your ticket number, I will certainly look out for you and say Hi. It will be busy tomorrow that's for sure with lots of Royal Ascot fashion style on display. Hope to see you tomorrow.
Anyone planning to go this year? I've got the Monday and Tuesday (9th and 10th) booked off work so shall be going, met up with Philwrig, Paulisi and Julia last year and am hoping for more of the same this year
