Edgbaston Day Trip

It was Saturday last year. Play advertised as beginning at 10am every day, though no specific timetable laid out.

Just checked lta website  - leaves somewhat to be desired. they are not promoting Saturday because there are no charges - celeb match tim and greg and heather and a mystery woman on Sun afternoon, along with FQR. this is to celebrate opening of the new grandstand, they've demolished the old one.

lot of changes to layout from last year too.

Thanks Miriambee. Yes the website wasn't all that helpful RE qualifying.

I would say it's 20-30 minutes walk from Five Ways or the University station, better bet is to take the 61, 62 or 63 bus along the Bristol Road (rubery, rednal, longbridge or northfield will be on buses), and get off at Junction with priory road, 5-10 minutes bus ride from city centre. buy a day saver with correct change, and take any bus any where that day.

correction here! they want pedestrians to use the Sir Harry's road entrance, not Priory road, so if coming from city centre, need to get off earlier, no real landmarks to help.  Five ways station nearer, but still min 20 mins walk.

Has anyone done this by train. Could you tell me how far it is from Birmingham New Street, and whether that is walkable? Thanks.

I was speaking to the box office today, and Thursday is the only day where there is a realistic chance of it being sold out for Centre, it being ladies day, even then I suspect you will be able to buy on the day alright
I was there today and the Mixed exo was very very well attended.
I will be there everyday weather permitting, so will say hi to any body that comes. If its sunny I'll stand out because I'll be wearing a white PGA cap.
If anyone's on twitter, I will give folks a follow, and maybe easier to arrange meeting up that way, my twitter address is @philwrig.
Hope to see a few of you during the week.

 Hi Helen,

I'm not sure of my plans at  the moment but I  may go on Thursday.  I'm definitely going at least one day, possibly more, but have to fit it in with work and also who is playing determines it a bit !!!  I do want to see Laura play.

My intention is to go tomorrow, and maybe for sometime on Tuesday - again if weather is reasonable.

I've got a ticket for Thursday, so definitely going then. Hopefully we can meet up, I think we went to Shrewsbury on different days if I remember rightly last year. I think I met priestly though, but was hanging out with Jade's mum, so didn't really have time to talk.

Thanks Miriambee. Is it quite obvious from Five ways? Is it a manned station where I can ask the way?

I've just google mapped a route, it's straightforward, the station exit is on the lee bank middleway, go out of the station, turn right (probably, but anyway so you head downhill, go right at the traffic lights into Wheeleys Road, and keep walking into Arthur road till you do a left turn into Sir harry's road - go down hill and it's on the right.  It's very pleasant, leafy Edgbaston at it's best. I have done it ( and further) so I estimate 15 minutes if your'e reasonably brisk.

At that time of the day the station will be manned. The station is the first stop after new street on the longbridge/redditch line. it's a 3 minute journey and trains run about every 15 minutes.
