Well done to Jo.

For Tara it always was likely to be a big ask even if she had had some competitive clay prep. Maybe if she had and with a good draw the 40 points for a R1 win might have been attainable.

Given her hard court form though this year, I can see the arguement for the schedule she kept to and almost just looking at Roland Garros as an experience and possible bonus.

JoKo closes out the set 6-4 after the short rain delay

 

In a tight set, Jo saved all three break points faced and converted one of two. Given the conditions, serve has been surprisingly dominant so far.

Easy to identify the turning points so far:

First set JoKo holds from 1-2 15-40 and immediately breaks
Second set Voskoboeva holds from 0-2 0-40 and immediately breaks

It is on the RG site (but fairly well hidden) - Friday 24th. No indication of time though.  I can't get a link to work but you go to "draws and schedule" and click on "women's singles".
