Birnerová's career high was 59 in 2007 and Anne has played her 3 times before, winning all of them, but they were all in juniors back in 2000/1.

Karatantcheva reached the RG QFs and a career high of 35 in 2005 before a drugs ban.

Zheng reached a career high 133 last November.

I think Anne has the best of the draw overall. JoKo could potentially meet Andrea Petkovic in the final qualifying round.

However Anne is not comfortable on clay, so although she has the best draw(arguably with Joko) she will probably fall at the first hurdle.

In fact i would have all three girls as underdogs for their matches

I assumed entry list and seedings both used the same rankings - seems odd they way they do it. I wouldn't be surprised if Erakovic had made other commitments whilst Heather was out of the game and this pairing was hastily arranged when Heather decided she was fit.

Also Tara has had no clay court prep so its asking a huge amount for her to find her clay court shoes straightaway. Tara played OK last July on the red stuff but has had a difficult trip to Asia as a warm up.

Hopefully JoKo is 100% fit and ready and if she is should make it through to play Petko which of course would be extremely tough.

As for Annie just a matter of keeping ones fingers crossed and lets just see what she can do.

That looks like a good first round draw to me. Zheng has little experience on clay, Birnerova is in terrible form (1 win in 13 matches this year I think) and while expectations for Tara on her foreign slam debut are low, playing a big name who blows hot and cold may give her an outside chance. Whether our three can take advantage, given their own difficult build-ups, is another matter.

They won't be. They are 13th on entry because you can use your singles rank to enter. For the actual seedings it's based on doubles rank only.

I'm really surprised at this as well but even though they have produced great results they haven't won a match at a grand slam together.

Er, that would be me. wink That (13) isn't their seeding though, is it? They'll be high on the entry list because Laura can use her singles ranking but with a joint ranking of over 100, I still can't imagine them being seeded.
