Bourgue is ranked over 300 places below Klein, and is yet to win a professional event at Futures level. He was beaten a month ago by Joshua Ward-Hibbert, and before that by Kyle in straight sets at the end of 2012. Whether Aussie or Brit, this ought to be rather straightforward, but it's not is it.

Bourgue is also over 4 years younger than Klein. (And the catty side of me wants to add : And a nice guy . . . ). Anyway, congratulations to him - it would seem that Klein blew his chance when he failed to capitalise on the lead he had in the tie-break.
NB For those who like to note big wins by 'possible' future stars, Quentin Halys, age 15 (!) and ranked 1053 in adults, and 37 in juniors, just beat Wang WR 161 in two sets. Quentin gets a lot of press columns written about him.
I remember reading somewhere that he plays like a young Murray, but I think that was just lazy journalism owing to the fact that he looks a bit like a young Andy. lol
Saying that Klein has had a difficult season so I don't know whether this performance is indicative of his below par form or whether the young French lad played above his normal level today.

Monsieur Halys is 16 and a half, CD. It's a terrific win, either way. Not really been on the radar at big junior events yet, so if he's in the junior draw, definitely one to watch.
Sorry, Korriban - been on the computer all day, brain gone to mush . . .
Yes, 16, not 15.
NB loved the photo Maza 1987 - I think he looks very much like Jamie Murray in that photo (the French, of course, would like him to grow up to play like Andy rather than Jamie, given the choice). NB the photo is of Halys, not Bourgue, just in case there's any confusion.
Bourgue is very comfortable on clay - winning the Copa Gerdau Grade A event twice, whereas Klein rarely plays on the surface, so this looked like a good opportunity for the teenager.
I expected more from Halys after he won Les Petits As 3 years ago, but he has been eclipsed by other 96ers like Coric and Quinzi
I'm not knocking Bourgue's victory or trying to imply that Klein must have played badly but Bourgue is not considered as a top mega major prospect by the French authorities (of course, he may prove them wrong). He had a good junior career but, like many, he has had trouble trying to adapt his game to adult level - he's had the same national ranking for the last 3 years. Lucas Pouille is in a different class (according to the powers that be) which is why, presumably, he got the wild card into the main draw.
I know this isn't technically the right thread, but there being no thread for main draw for obvious reasons ... just was doing a scan down the schedule to look at results and couldn't help noticing that Kyrgios has just beaten Stepanek in straight (albeit very close) sets. Rather impressive - seems to be doing the junior/senior transition quite nicely.
