Very tough match, more so against home fave. Wonder how she bagged the WC?!

They said she got the WC that the management company Octagon has the discretion to award. (I don't really get any of that stuff, I must admit)

LOL I edited at about the same moment you wrote that. I'd put SUI in the tweet, thank goodness - I must have had the location on my brain when I posted here!

Qualifying for this weekd events in Brussels and Strasbourg has some very strange names, no doubt affected by players resting before various stages of the French Open.

However, Amanda Carreras was down as an ALT for Strasbourg up until, at least, Thursday. Considering players ranked 150-200 places below her eventually got in to qualifying without even needing a WC, she would have comfortably secured a place.
It's a bit of a shame that she, and other of the British girls in the same rankings bracket, didn't take, or perhaps stick out, the gamble for a qualifying place in the way that several of our men have this week in Düsseldorf.

I suppose the question for a player might be: Is a single match shot at a potential 6 points and possibly more, better than a good week in a $10K, several match wions, and hopefully a SF and the same reward?

Do qualifiers at an WTA/ATP tournament get hospitality? If so, I would have thought that makes a big difference.

Amanda seems to be getting more ambitious, which is nice to see. This week she has her name down for both Brussels and Strasbourg, as well as the $25K in Casblanca. She also has her name down for the $100K in Marseille and the $75K in Nottingham starting on 3rd June.

You might have to send her a map - when was the last time she played in UK?

Yes, Bally is 5th on Court 1 after 10 am BST, so probably late afternoon. Nik is 3rd on Court 3, probably early to mid-afternoon.

In that Bundesliga match in Stuttgart, Anne beat Verena Schmid (GER) WR 820 2 & 4, while Vögele came from a set down to beat world no. 62 Annika Beck with a MTB bagel - 3-6 6-2 10:0. Their team (Ratingen) looks to have won the singles part 4-2.
