According to Liam, he did give up without a fight "...the guy semi tanked for the rest of the match".

Well maybe he half gave up without a fight wink

 Smile.

Good to hear that other players bomb.

I always like to imagine the other forum i.e. on some Italian forum right now is: Riccardo completely blew it, losing to a guy ranked so much lower, what's wrong with our players  etc. etc.

Toby had lost the first set 6-1 (to a guy called Tristan-Samuel - if you weren't a fan of nick-names, this would convince you of their need!) but broke in the first game of the second set and is leading 2-0

You're doing sterling work this week, RJA - also reminds us what a great job StirCrazy (in particular) does with the doubles results when she is around.

Liam got broken in the first game serving THREE double-faults - at least it can only get better - which it did - coz he broke back !

Liam now 5-3* down. Story so far seems to be BP conversions. Krawietz is 2/2 whilst Liam is 1/7.

This set could still go either way though.

The German broke Liam once again and takes the set.

If anything confirms once more that professional tennis is almost entirely a mental game (with the exception of matches with massive differences in relative ability), this match is it.

The German takes 3 of his 4 BPs and saves 6 of 7 faced.

Liam was 3-0 down in the 2nd set when my computer crashed. By the time I had rebooted it was 3-3.

So how does one cause their computer to crash ? This tactic may come in handy !!

Still hanging in there. Liam saves a couple of MPs to hold for 5-5*

Well, he saved a MP and held serve - did your computer crash again ?

Sadly not. And consequently, Liam goes down 6-3 7-5.

But for a first tournament back, there are positives to be taken from this week.
