All four girls have very competitive matches. All could go either way. Suprised to see Mel as favourite for her match, given her poor singles form.

She did win, though it was a lot closer than their two previous encounters!

"Got the win in singles today. Just a casual 3.5 hour match winning 6 in the 3rd. Cold bath, massage, eat and bed"

Good win for Mel in the context of her recent singles form.

On April 27th, Melanie tweeted:
@melaniesouth
So happy that @arinarodionova will be in my life again soon. Not sure how I have coped!

Back in her life in more ways than one it seems, as Rodionova's win today means that she will be Mel's next opponent here.
R2: SOUTH, Melanie (GBR) 475 vs. RODIONOVA, Arina (RUS) 242 [1] (CH:157 5/2010 - H2H; 0-0)

 I presume this refers to the well-known, shall we say, attitude and sportsmanship problems that she and her sister are famous for. Interesting that Mel tweeted her directly - not likely to help matters. Alternatively, perhaps I've got this all wrong.

Yes, that's all I meant by it, that it was unfirtunate that they would have to play each other in that one sense.

Mel, like Tara, is very popular amongst other players and has a wide range of friendships on tour.
