I wouldn't have been able to resist it either, except that I've used that one so many times in the past that even I was too ashamed to bring it out again

Good effort from Oli in the 2nd set but he eventually goes down 1-6 5-7
I am sure he will be looking forward to getting on the grass.
Yes a better effort in the second set. But it's still a straight sets defeat in the QF of a $10k tournament against a player who may have a slightly higher current ranking than Oli, but still isn't as highly ranked as Oli himself expected to be by now.
He's just tweeted that after stringing costs have been deducted from his QF prize money, he's only got 70 Euros left, "#shambles". I don't like this kind of talk. Firstly, if he'd won another round or two, that improves the situation significantly. Secondly, as probably (almost certainly) the best financed player in the entire draw (did he himself pay for flights, hotels, food, coaching, equipment?) I'm not sure some of his competitors would be too sympathetic; thirdly, it's probably more appropriate for senior pros who have come through the ranks and now made it to be lobbying the ITF (and I believe they are) about Futures/Challenger prize money, rather than tweeting this stuff. And how many WCs do young Italian, Belgian, German, Spanish, Dutch, Brasilian, Argentinian, Canadian players of the same age get into Grand Slam tournaments (£15,000+ for the privilege)...almost none!
Now I'm sure Oli will be looking forward to the grass court season (lots of WCs which may or may not be merited, but seem destined to come his way anyway); let's all hope he gets his game in gear and pushes on as well. It really would be good to see Oli rise out of "the pack" of other players who are very good, of course, but no more than that. Less talking, more winning (ref Mr Edmund)

have been following these formus for a while now but have never commented before. tweeting like this may not be the right way to go about it but to be honest who can blame him? he would have spent a minimum of 6 or 7 hours on court this week to recieve such a small amount of money! not to mention the endless hours of practice and physical work! all to get paid so little! he may not have returned to action at rafa nadal pace by winning an incredible amount very quickly but lets not forget that only a few months ago he was on crutches! just to be playing alone is an acheivement in my book. he has shown definite signs that he is improving over the last few weeks, especially with his first round victory this week! lets not forget this is an incredibly demanding sport and everyone progresses at their own speeds! lets not start labelling him in the miles kasiri bracket just yet! he has nothing to defend for a while now so we could see him jump very quickly! i look forward to commentin
Not trying to slag off Oli but there is so much hype about him! And yes agree he is still very promising. I made the Miles comment because he disappeared off the scene after being very promising ++ so cmon oli grass court season coming we want you in top 250 by end of year
Does Golding come from a well off background? By some of the things he tweets I'm guessing he does therefore money more on his mind than tennis. I have to say I feel there are a lot better and more deserving younger players of LTA backing. We all know the money is shocking at lower end of the game. Time to stop moaning and get winning otherwise don't bother.
