Week 20 - Italy F8 ($10,000) - Santa Margherita di Pula (Clay)

That's tough and it's a much stronger draw that previously, hence why Oli didn't get seeded.

(Amended from Kyle to Oli - schoolboy error)

A second match in a row against a no. 3 seed for Oli - tough draw:

L32: Oli Golding WR 515 v (3) Sandro Ehrat (SUI) WR 297 (= CH)

Ehrat has won 8 of his last 9 matches (3 in qualifying for the Rome Challenger, lost in R1 to GGL, 5 to win Italy F5)

Did I miss seeing Kyle in the draw, I thought to myself ... confuse

Don't worry, they're like twins! (hmm, maybe not! wink)

Seems very little in it. A test of Oli's patience and concentration.

Borna Coric had a couple of matches on his victory run in Bournemouth where he failed to convert huge numbers of BPs, but kept at it, until finally his opponents "cracked".

Exceptionally long break between sets. I'm guessing a MTO. Suspect the Swiss took one to make Oli think about all the missed chances. I'm being cycnical, but there it is.

Yes, given Ehrat's ranking and recent form, this must have been Oli's best performance since injury. I'm sure he'd love to finish it off though! 20 bps saved between them now, Oli taking 3/17, Ehrat 3/9.

Terrible start for Oli, broken in the first game.

Still level on *3-3. Oli had Ehrat at 0-40 in the last game but couldn't convert.

Under pressure now as Oli gets broken.

Ehrat to serve for the set at *5-4

Ehrat survives 5 break points to take the set 6-4

On break points Oli took 1 from 12. Ehrat took 2 from 2.

Now thats more like it, talking to some of our guys at Newcastle reports were that Oli was playing well in practice but not taking it to the match court. Looks like he's starting to take it to the match court.

It was a long first set so they probably both took a "bathroom break".

Good patience. Must have been very frustrating with so many BP chances. Positive signs here.
