Final: (2) Daniel Evans WR 327 beat (6) Grzegorz Panfil (POL) WR 426 : 6-4, 7-6(4)

Dan's first clay court title and his first title outside of Britain.

He really had to dig the second set out. At *2-4, 0-40 things were not looking good.

Great news. Let's hope this is something for him to build on, both in terms of his ranking and his mentality towards the game.

Very good to see. Build on this, please, Dan.

Also good to see this form on clay bearing in mind clear doubts about Andy's participation if the Croatia match is on clay.

Still, I chiefly hope it just boosts Dan himself for the coming months.

Interesting we both were writing "build on" thoughts at the same time, Bob. I do feel the rest of this year could be the real coming of Dan if he wants it enough and is prepared to really commit.

I'll be honest, I didn't really know much about Dan until I went to the Davis Cup in Coventry recently, but having seen him play there, his potential was obvious.  What was also very obvious was that he very much enjoyed being part of the team and in the spotlight.  Let's hope he wants more and more of that because he is definitely top 100 material.

I'm starting to get very excited about Evo again, I must admit.

The boost from DC seems clear now that he is achieving two notable career firsts this week. I think its great that after the initial lift of the Davis Cup, having the next tie to focus on seems to be driving him on.

USO qualies should be his next target IMO - only 4 points to defend in the next 3 months
