RE: Training groups/Academies

If the academies want to spread their risk and cover their fixed overhead they could do worse than consider extending their range of services to the adult weekend warrior. I suspect there is an untapped market for adult performance coaching - wannabees like me who might aspire to a later-in-life career on the ITF seniors circuit. I suggested that about ten years ago to one of the Equelite directors when on a tour around their academy. Now I see they're doing it.

They mainly fill their courts at weekends with aspiring mini-tennis players - lots of kids per court and plenty of parents willing to pay to get their kids off to the best start in tennis with 'performance' tennis.  Later in the day usually older juniors in squads hoping to get the coaching the full-time juniors get in daytime during the week (though often get different coaches).  Same between 4 and 8 after school.  These sessions for the youngsters generate a lot of cash for the centres and are usually vital in balancing the books.  Later in the evening most centres are happy to have adults or run adult groups as the money-generating kids don't want to play then.   Just so much more money in kids than adults.

Again, don't know if there is a full list on this thread somewhere, but Evan Hoyt is also at Notts.

Nothing revolutionary but with Gosling having Dan Cox, Ed Corrie, Joe Salisbury, Ali Bedene, etc., men's tennis seems to be pretty much a two-horse race now.

(A full list would be interesting if anyone knew enough and/or had the time to do one).

I think that it's pretty good to have quite a number of our better prospects training together, well at times.

Hopefully Nottingham and Gosling have good enthusiastic atmospheres with folk all pulling together. From various accounts the NTC often seemed a soulless place. Training should be hard work AND enjoyable, reference Andy Murray and team.

Maybe get some healthy competition between these two centres.

Not the sort of place you'd want to drop your barbell or have your music turned up to full volume.

Unless of course you were deliberately trying to get kicked out.
