Week 20 - ATP Masters 1000 - Rome (Clay) - Doubles

I noticed Dominic Inglot hasn't been partnering Treat Huey in recent tournaments after a successful last season, anyone know why?

Their combined raking wouldn't have got them into this event but they were both able to get in by playing with higher ranked partners. Jonny and Dom only just sneaked in as the last "on site" acceptences.

Bugger!  I've been keeping any eye out all day for the Rome doubles draw for Brit contestants & I'm pipped to the post by someone who professes to have little interest in doubles! furious

That's good to know. I like the fact that Dom has got a regular partner.

They lost the second set 7-6(8) after three times being up a mini break.

What a nail biter.

Both pairs had multiple match points.

Very impressive. Isner/Querrey have won at Rome in the past, haven't they?

To answer my own question, they won the tournament in 2011. Not bad then, for Inglot and Marray.

Including today's win Jonny has now picked up 1660 points since Wimbledon. Those points alone would put him at WR 43 as of this week.

So with anything else that he gets this week, plus Nice, Roland Garros, Queens and Eastbourne he should go into Wimbledon having already built up a good solid number of points that will keep him in the mix for pretty much any ATP event.
