Simona Halep finally exits at the SF stage, beaten 3 & 0 by Serena Williams so Laura should be WR 35 on Monday ( the rankings used for RG seedings ). I know we can talk all day about ifs and buts, but it appears that if Laura had won an extra 60 points by beating Ivanovic in Madrid she would be top 32 on Monday.

Losing 4 games to Laura is the most Serena has lost all week, though admittedly that was in her first match here.

Ah, getting my rounds wrong. Laura met Ivanovic in the last 16 in Madrid so it would have actually been an extra 110 points and WR 26 or 27 on Monday.

That does show how close she is to being well into the 20s on current rankings and so many points appear to have got away from her this year.

The good thing is that she does appear to have picked up significantly better form of late.

Serena won the final 6-1 6-3, so none of Serena's opponents won more games than Laura.

Yes, totally. The best thing I read on here was that Serena took Laura's game seriously from the start, so it's round the locker room that Laura is not to be taken lightly even if you are WR 1.
