Fantastic result for Jack and a chance to push to break into the top 25/(26) - although this is getting harder and harder as the standard keeps rising.

After swapping a couple of breaks, Tom finally serves out the 1st set 6-3, although he had to save 3 BPs in the final game.

Looking good.

Tom serving for the match (again) at *5-4.

He was 5-1* up but Crepaldi has now won three games in a row.

L16: Tom Farquharson WR 679 beat (6) Erik Crepaldi ITA WR 596 by 6-3 6-4

That is another very good win for the ever improving Tom F and guarantees a Brit (of sorts) in the semi as he will play the winner of Brit Bugby or Semi Brit Ede in the QF.

I expected Tom to win that given the calibre of opposition he has been beating and Erik's mixed form. Miles looks good for a win as well.

I've just realised that Miles is trying to reach his first Futures singles QF at the age of 26, having played in 25 Futures doubles QFs over the last 6 years. It's the 98th ATP-ranked event he has played singles at.

Lord, you are truly a stat monster ! Wow . . .

And you don't even put the mockers on things as i see Miles has just won.

Not quite, I'm afraid - I got the 98 figure just by doing a search on his full ITF record for "Singles" but now I realise that double counts events where he qualified. Still not quite used to the way the (now-not-quite-so-) new ITF site works!

Well, it was good of you to 'fess up' - I wouldn't have gone and checked!

But well done to Miles - it's always nice to see some of the 'older' players getting a few good results too, and shows that even as a qualifier you've still got a good shot and have to take advantage and seize the moment.

Winners play each other in the semi final, so Robin Kern stands in the way of a GB finalist. I hope Jack wins, but i cannot see it.  In fact i expect Tom to make yet another semi final and then fail to get to the final again.....
