That could be a very tough assignment, Zanevska just made the final of the $100K in Cagnes-Sur-Mer as a Lucky Loser.

in the MD, she beat Julia Cohen, Sharon Fichman and Vania King, all from a set down, then knocked out top seed Romina Oprandi before falling to Caroline Garcia in 3 sets in the final.

She also made the last 16 of the WTA in Stuttgart recently, pushing Mattek-Sands to a close 3 sets.

But, if Bally can get through a potential QF with... Paula Ormaechea awaits!

Elena has just started - Zanevska held to love and has just broken to 30 in the 2nd game.

Zanevska has only dropped 1 point in her 3 service games so far and is already 5-0* up

As suspected, Zanevska proving a very tough proposition.
However, having won just 6 total points in the first 5 games, Elena has just won the last 2 games.
The Bally fight is kicking in, can she continue in the same vein?

Elena: *2-5

Bally certainly well in this now after a very slow start. Three breaks to open set 2: 2-6 *2-1

What a result - fantastic to turn over such an in form and proficient clay court. Bally will be back in the top 100 before you know it.

Cracking day for the GB girls so far (just Laura R who has nothing to lose to go)

Great comeback from Bally - turning around a match that is going wrong is one of the hardest things for a player short of match practice.

R1: BALTACHA, Elena (GBR) Q 206 beat ZANEVSKA, Maryna (UKR) SE 149 by 2-6 6-3 6-1 biggrin

R2: BALTACHA, Elena (GBR) Q 206 v PEREIRA, Teliana (BRA) 5 128

Pereira is the player who beat Amanda Carreras 1 & 2 in that 25K Final in Buenos Aires towards the end of last year.

Good win for Elena although not on her favourite surface which makes the result even better

Bally's back

The key seems to be if my hard disk crashes during a match, the GB player wins. I'm prepared to make the sacrifice

When I went out, Elena and Dan Smethurst were both down and out.

Just got back to find they've both won!!!

PS I love your speculation, Steven and Korriban, but, moi, I'm sayin' nuttin', nix, zip, zilch, rien . . .

Elena's match has been scheduled to finish at 08:00 UK tomorrow.

If she can turn the result around against Pereira, she will meet Ormaechea in the next round.

Edit: Hello, my name's blob and I can't do simple time calculations... "Hi blob!"
