which young gb girl to make top 250

Having seen Katy Dunne in Edinburgh I think she has a good game and personally think she can progress inside top 250.

Maia Lumsden definitely as well if she can bulk up a bit!

Any other girls likely to make a go at higher levels?

Katie Boulter Katy Dunne Anna Brogan Maia Lumsden. No other GB player other than the ones who have recently made it like Lisa and Sam will make it in inside the top 250 next 5 years that's my prediction.

Anastasia Mikheeva won the Nottingham G4 this year beating Maia Lumsden and is only 13. She is also has a 19-6 Win-Loss record for the year.

Of course, by the time she makes the top 250, she may not be a GB player if Mr Salmond has his way.

Katy Dunne definitely a great prospect... and agree with the other girls named above also having the potential to reach top 250... but i don't think we should be putting a time limit on it- when it comes to it i'd like to think a lot/most of them will debate going to college

yeah take your point jess ren was a good junior but in my opinion lacks weight of shot to succeed in seniors. I think Maia and Anna are better prospects than Jo

Daneika Borthwick and Nat Beazant have posted good results over in the States (NCAA), but they may of course choose to pursue careers outside of tennis once they graduate.

I haven't seen Maia or Anna play as much so my opinions are slightly more reserved- though from what I have seen and the feel from the other players, it will be interesting to watch their progress.

difficult with jess because her biggest attribute as a junior was her mental strength... what she has potentially lost in that respect I feel she has gained in other areas of her game, but still may be too lightweight as you say. not sure if you saw my comments in a different thread... but she is strongly considering university starting from september, which may give her some more time to develop physically, and then perhaps try her way on tour in a couple of years time

I really do feel it is laced with so much uncertainty to be making too many predictions about younger juniors such as the 15 yos Jazzi, Gabi and Maia, and the even younger Anastasia. So many really good looking young juniors totally fall away, while other initially less strong players come through. All the best to them.

Still, something to be looked back on, I guess, for those who want to go out on a limb.

Re older juniors, Katy Dunne, now in her last junior year, has come on in the last 6 months or so, She needed to be moving to senior ITFs and making an impression and has recently done so.

I do think Katy Dunne and Katie Boulter too are probable top 500ers in time, and maybe quite a bit higher such as 250, but I would be very uncertain about that.

I think Sam Vickers has had the best season out of all the Brits there this year.  Not sure if this her 1st year though, so guess it will be at least another 2 years until any of her success translates to the main tour.

I agree that it's a mug's game trying to predict things like this so far in advance but the LTA do it much earlier, put money behind it and usually fail, so I don't see why posters here can't be allowed some harmless speculatory fun that doesn't waste any money wink

If anyone points to a post on this thread in a few years' time having got lucky, you can always while away your retirement by searching for the 499 other predictions they made that were wrong. Given Activeboard's utterly useless search function, you "may be away some time." no

I like the new sig by the way - the reference to the his or her bit made me smile

For anyone who follows the junior site, I'd repeat that a good outsider bet would be Mirabelle Njoze.

She's nowhere near in the rankings at the moment (but that's not the be all and end all, and it's easy to pick the current top juniors) but she has:

a. a really good, modern, athletic, aggressive game;
b. an excellent set-up (full-time academy)
c. very ambitious goals
d. recent progress that's gone through the roof.

Anyway, here's hoping . . .

Good point - I'd a feeling I'd forgotten a player who was doing well over there!
