I'm with Steven and Spectator - people *can* change, I have personal experience of that, and I'll give him a chance to prove he means it.
Having seen the RG qualies thread, and thoguht 'who's he??, how can I have missed a brit?'. I read though the whole of this thread with growing interest.
I'm with you guys on this. People can change, and we've all done stupid things and offended people. I'm happy to give him and chance ( or two ), but I suspect I'm also going to think 'get back to your own country' if as I also agree with LordBrownof's comment.
'I'd like to think that 'becoming British' is more than merely receiving a new passport.'
Good luck to Brydan in being British, in all the best ways!
Somehow, I don't think these comments in an Aussie newspaper are going to help Brydan's cause in the "is his heart really in it" sense, but having come across the article (which does seem fairly honest, albeit skewed for Aussie consumption), I thought I had better post it:
as long as he starts winning and showing some commitment i don't see the problem. changing nationality happens in all sports look at rugby manu tualaigi was bought over to england at the age of 14 with the intention of him playing senior rugby for england despite all his brothers playing for samoa. also sean maitland of scotland was close to being in the new zeland world cup squad and has suddenly become a scot because of parentage, also tim visser earned the right to play for scotland through completing his residency. also in cricket kevin pieterson started out in south africa
Re Brydan, I actually do think he has every right to declare himself British, even if it may seem a bit of a flag of convenience.
Well yes, I think I have made clear in previous comments that I do not dispute his legal / technical rights on this matter. I also don't dispute the rights of others to consider him British and to support him, I do think that anyone who does so are being foolish but that is their choice. Equally it is my choice to to consider him not to be British and to be a loathsome piece scum.
Simon Ede is back to being an Aussie in today's ATP rankings, so given that he remained AUS throughout on ITF, I think we can safely assume his ATP switch to GBR was an admin error!

Talking of which, if you go on to the ATP site, and find Scott Clayton, WR 2073 in the list, and then click on Scott himself,, you find that he is now suddenly 732 in the world rankings with 51 points !
And that's been like that for several months too . . .

Well, why's his page the only one that comes up automatically on the doubles thingy whereas everyone else comes up on the singles thingy ?
And why don't I have a new pair of glasses ? (indeed any glasses - when I KEEP asking the wretched French optician for some and they keep refusing)
And why am I a bear of so little brain ?

I have been caught out by the same thing in the past so you are in good company.
