Maybe that's the difference with most of the better players (Caroline Wozniacki apart, of course, who hopefully will herself dare one day)

Certainly a very worthwhile trip for these two

Just thinking too that Jade's comment can be adapted to herself this week too - credit to her for making the last minute decision to skip Edinburgh and risk going out to S Africa, she could have drawn Kichenok or Babos in R1 though!

Good doubles win for the Brits - it takes them into the Final (64 points) and will take Samantha up to a new doubles CH around 180 and Jade up to a new doubles CH around 260 (probably just outside 180/260 respectively)

The class of Linette & Simmonds combined proved too much in the first set, which disappeared pretty swiftly: 1-6

Picked up slightly in the second, but couldn't find enough extra to make a difference to the result.

F: Samantha MURRAY/Jade WINDLEY (GBR/GBR) lost to Magda LINETTE/Chanel Simmonds (POL/RSA) [1] 1-6 3-6

Still, QF's each in singles and runners up in doubles at a $50K+H - definitely take that - good week ladies and hope it inspires even greater heights to come.

Bally is in a $50K+H next week, may she have at least as productive a week in France!

Yes, the week turned out really well overall.

It was indeed a bit of a risky venture to travel here for a one off tournament. But the very fact that there were such risks clearly put off many players, and thus made much more of a chance of real potential reward.

Jade has had a great week and Sam ultimately could well have gone even further if she hadn't run into Babos in the QF.

Confirmed that:

Samantha makes it into the top 250 in singles (up 18 at 240) and gets a "1" at the start of her doubles ranking for the first time (up 24 at 179, CH was 200)

Jade breaks into both the singles top 400 and the doubles top 300 for the first time - up 55 to 393 in singles and up 44 to 268 in doubles
