Congratulations to Jade - superb win against a much higher ranked player. Looks like that win in Bournemouth has given her enormous confidence and her decision to miss Edinburgh is paying dividends.
Should see a big jump in her ranking on the back of this.
I see GB comebacks from the dead weren't a one-week wonder after all Great win from Jade, who will jump more than 50 places on Monday to a new career high in the top 400 for the first time Her late decision to be bold and skip Edinburgh to play here is paying off in spades!
Extracts from the tournament's post-match interview with Sam, who will now definitely break into the top 250 on Monday:
"I was here a week before the tournament, got used to the altitude, like it especially for my serve" - @smurray910 "My opener against Emily was tough and today did well to get on top of @madrieleroux a good junior the next one is tough" - @smurray910 "The match was tighter against @madrieleroux than the score line - she is a tough junior" - @smurray910 "British women's tennis is healthy and on the way up" - @smurray910 "The #sowetoopen is a top class tment, everything is so well organised, we having a gud time & loved last night Players Party"- @smurray910

At the top end maybe, but we need some depth and other than Anna Smith no signs of anyone capable of breaking through into the top 500.
Yes, I did think that when I read it, but fair enough for Sam to be focused on the higher end of the rankings ... and nothing wrong with the players themselves believing things are on the up if it gives them more confidence.
Jade quotes:
"I was 60 20 down in 20 minutes, I just relaxed and stuck in there and got a game on the board" - @jade_windley "I realised I could beat her when I got into the match, I played a lot of balls. I thrive for 3 sets" - @jade_windley "I may not be the biggest of players but my cardio is HUGE so I always have a chance" - @jade_windley "Its my first time in #southafrica and I LOVE it and the Players Party was amazing last night at #Moyos" - @jade_windley
I've often thought Jade always looks like she's in fantastic shape (one of the best of the Brits in that sense) and clearly it really paid off today.

"She is a top 200 players, has a big game, ranked 200, Sam is a tough player" - @madrieleroux "Sam played well from the first point I went in prepared" - @madrieleroux "I came off court & worked right away with my mental coach @GielieHoffmann so Im feeling good, learnt a lot frm the match" - @madrieleroux "My serve let me down, first serve percentage especially and I wasn't consistant enough especially on the forehand" - @madrieleroux

It's nice to see Sam and Jade giving some good positive feedback and publicity to the Jo'burg tennis authorities who are obviously organising a really well-run and enjoyable tournament.
Remembering that Tara's good form really began in Kazan last summer, it strikes me that GB girls seem to do very well in $50K+H events. They should hold more of them!
Loving what Sam & Jade are doing here this week.

Data I post, opinions I offer, 'facts' I assert, are almost certainly all stupidly wrong.
Just found videos of this morning's interviews. Two very happy Brits and, for a 50K_H ITF particularly, a really excellent interviewer who gets the best out of them.
Good to hear all the positives this year. I seem to recall quite a few criticisms in the past re Johannesburg / Soweto re such as transport, lack of water, balls etc etc.
Loved Jade's reaction to Lucas Radebe coming and the interviewer ( yes, a bit better than the average LTA one ! ) doing an err moving on..
