Awesome that Laura has won. Weird to have two Brits in R2 of a Premier/Masters before Sunday too.
Will be an exciting match in R2 knowing how Laura likes the big occasion. Aga is much worse on clay than other surfaces, though of course still a very dangerous player. I remember watching Bally play Aga at the French a few years ago and was very surprised by how tight Bally kept the set through aggressive, attacking play.
Aga also struggles against lefties: with losing H2H of 4-1 against both Kvitova and Safarova, 2-1 down to Schnyder. I couldnt think of any more lefties other than Kirilenko, who Aga leads 6-3 but has a lot of close matches with. Assuming Aga makes it through, no reason to think Laura wouldnt have a decent chance in the match. Though it seems I would be safer to write her off and watch her reel off game after game instead!
Ag Rad beat Pironkova 6-2 6-4. Can't imagine Laura winning many of the longer rallies so she'll have to land a lot of early aggressive shots, especially heavy returns; not much margin for error given Radwanska's superb movement.

I know what you mean - he always seems fine when we get into short conversations on Twitter, but tries a bit too hard to get noticed with stuff like that and the things like "please RT" "RT if you ..." etc that he (like many others on Twitter, to be fair) seems rather fond of. We all try to come up with the odd original thing on Twitter (usually more odd than original in my case!) but you have leave other people to decide whether they are interesting or not.
To my mind, RTs and followers only 'count' if you don't ask for them.
Stu_fraser is a great example of someone who had the same aim but was subtle about it, made sure he knew his stuff and produced info people actually wanted. I've been very happy to see him getting a lot of well-deserved breaks as a result.
Exactly. Stu is a top block who worked very hard doing pieces on a range of sports before focusing in on tennis as well.
Its laughable really, but does beg the question - at what point, if ever, will Sky look to expand their coverage into WTA matches, even if its virtually Heather/Laura only?
Even as a big fan of ATP I would struggle to sit through a mens match, however enjoyable, knowing Laura is playing at the same time without coverage. I know consideration of local fans is important, but who in the UK wants to watch Isner v Garcia-Lopez instead!?

Does that mean he's reached the very pinnacle of journalistic achievement?

Not necessarily, but it does mean that he has had to build his career from the bottom up. (igmc)
