RE: Week 18 - Greece F5 ($10,000) - Iraklion (hard)

Lokoli is often referred to as a young Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - a fun-loving, big-hitting athletic kid who has huge ups and downs. So it's just possible that he had a purple patch day and hit the cover off the ball.
But Ed having a little nagging injury is also possible because, nine times out of ten, you'd have thought Ed would win with no problem.

Gosling tennis just tweeted that Ed is on a hospital drip in Greece, having come down with a bad virus.

Wow! Explains everything about what happened today. Suspected sonething wasnt right at all.

Speedy recovery, Ed!

Worrying news from the Doubles. Ed and Lewis were leading 6-3, 2-3 and then retired.

Lewis's name is highlighted in red on the ITF live scoreboard, so perhaps he's the one who was crocked.  cry

From what I can tell the ITF live scoreboard always highlights the player who is on the top line, regardless of who is injured.

I do hope that Ed hasn't been carrying an injury, then played doubles and worsened it.

But who knows...

Yes, horrible thing to happen but unless it's really bad, better for a tennis player than an injury.

Good news from Ed:

"Was in and out of the hospital in a couple of hours. Drip helped a lot. Slept well last night. Chilling today, home 2morrow"

Says a lot about a player's consistency that when they lose unexpectedly, people assume (rightly) that something has gone wrong. Hope Mr Corrie recovers quickly and well.

I was thinking exactly the same thing. I suspect almost all of us immediately suspected he was ill or injured, such has been his almost boring consistency and "hard to beat"-ness. Especially given the lack of form from his opponent (who was soundly thrashed of course today)

It's odd to say that you're pleased someone is ill, but I am!  Sounds like some rest and home cooking will sort him out.
