Week 18 - Challenger ($125,000 +H) - Tunis Open, Tunis (red clay)

Jamie D teams up with (I seem to recall - I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong) a previous partner:

R1:  Farrukh Dustov & Adrian Ungur (UZB/ROU) WR 1266 vs (2) Jamie Delgado & Andreas Siljeström (SWE) WR 201

QF:  Radu Albot & Benni Becker (MDA/GER) WR 423vs (2) Jamie Delgado & Andreas Siljeström (SWE) WR 201

A good chance for JD & Siljeström - I think!  Nicolas Mahut must be handier on the devil dirt than I gave him credit for, as he & Florent Serra removed the top seeds, Cerretani & Shamasdin, by 6-7(1) 7-6(4) [10-6] this afternoon....

SF:  Flavio Cipolla & Alessio di Mauro (ITA/ITA) WR 512 vs (2) Jamie Delgado & Andreas Siljeström (SWE) WR 201

Jamie & Andreas are now the only seeds left in the draw.  In the top half, the third seeds, the Granollers brothers, gave a walkover to the Tunisian/Algerian WCs, Skander Mansouri & Lamine Ouhab, who thus reached the semis without striking a ball in much the same style as Argüello & Ramírez in Savannah last week.  I'm beginning to think actual doubles matches are an endangered species! disbelief

I can't see Mansouri & Ouhab getting past Meffert & Oswald to reach the final, but Mansouri, who's 17 & unranked in either singles or doubles, will pick up 45 points for his "efforts" & thus zoom straight into the 700s! disbelief

Jamie & Andreas must be getting the hang of playing together!  wink  I expect them to have to face Meffert & Oswald in the final & for the Austro-German pair to prove a sterner test!

I'd love to see Mr. Delgado take the title, best of luck.

So far, so good:  first set in the bag by 6-3 (three service breaks to one!).
