RE: Week 18 - ITF $25K - Phuket, Thailand - Hard

I would say it is 100% certain that she will play RG qualies, after making that move up the rankings to get herself in that position I couldn't conceivably see her not taking that opportunity, plus the fact she told me at Sunderland as well makes me certain.

Since I'm not in Thailand (phew!), it appears Lisa has taken out her frustration on the local wildlife. wink

 That's good news.

Yes, not surprised at all about Tara playing French Open qualies.

She has made it very clear in the past how much she wants to play at the highest level, such as in an interview early last year at a GB 10K around the time of the Aussie Open.

So I am not remotely surprised that a little unfamiliarity with the red stuff does not put her off. Having got her ranking up high enough, I would have actually been amazed if she hadn't competed at RG.

Unless Tara wins a qualifying round at RG ( in which case she will rise quite well inside the top 200 ), if she is playing no further tournaments before the grass court season, she will be stuck on her 309 ranking points.

She starts defending points in Nottingham and Birmingham, so it would be nice for her if the rankings could just work out nicely in the next few weeks and give her that WR 1xx that she wants, taking it off her mind.

I think you will hear a scream if she is WR 200 again !

TBE's table on tennisforum shows Tara at 198 at the moment with Cepede Royg able to go level on points with her if she wins her QF at Indian Harbour Beach where she is the no. 8 seed, while Madison Brengle (the 2nd seed at the same event) could also overtake Tara if she reaches the Final.

Cepede Royg plays Evtimova in the QFs tomorrow and Brengle (assuming she makes the QFs) plays Riske, with the winners meeting in the SFs.

To add to the uncertaintly, TBE's rankings have been known to be a place or two out, especially when 25Ks might be involved.

It's a shame there isn't a $10k women's event (I think) on clay in Newcastle next week, alongside the men, as this would have been perfect practice without too much pressure and with the likelihood of playing a few rounds.

Good news for Tara.

Cepede Royg just lost her QF in Indian Harbour Beach.

I think therefore that the worst Tara can be ranked is 199 next week, that precioous leading one will be hers.

Brengle also lost, so congratulations I hope for Tara as a 1xx'er.

They might have had a rubbish week this week, but both have something to celebrate today:

- the calculations were correct - Tara moves up to 198, so gets her 1xx ranking

- Lisa is a top 250 player, up 21 at 250 (or as Tara might say 'nearly there' wink)
