Well done, James, good to see him in form.

Regarding Ito, usually main draws are made before qualifying ends and qualifiers are not considered for main draw seeding even if say qwcs / late entries with a high ranking. I have though seen qualifiers seeded in futures main draws ( I am sure Evo has been ). Are there any rules here, eg. dependant on tournament level or just when the main draw is done ?

I believe that all ATP level tournaments (including chalengers) conduct the draw before qualifying has been completed. In futures it varies.

.........see if you can imagine there being that many people taking an interest in a R1 Challenger doubles match in the UK (outside the grass court season, anyway)

Steven. We'll probably never know, because as of this year, there are NO Challenger tournaments outside the grass court season in the UK anyway!!!!!

confuse

Have you seen the calendar to the end of the year?

The Calender for July-Nov hasn't been released but it was reported earlier in the year (can't remember the source) that there wouldn't be any challengers other than Nottingham.

No.

And I forgot about Loughborough, before you raise it. That's the 1 non grass court GB Challenger tournament left from the 5 or 6 there used to be, which hasn't formally been removed from the calendar yet. Plenty of time this year or next. Hope I'm wrong.

Excellent

He's definitely looking the better player now, hope he doesn't lapse back into his 1st set form.

I see that Dino will be playing after the match involving another Dino!

... and the other Dino is a break up in the 3rd against top seed Matt Ebden! (... so James might eventually get on 4-5 hours later than expected - rain delay at the start of the day, I think)

Anyone know the reason for his nickname? Trying to think laterally before writing this, should I (further) embarrass myself, but can't make a connection.

It's his middle name rather than a nickname.
