I can get by in Spanish (at least when it's limited to reading and doesn't involve speaking) and actually prefer to read things in Spanish (when available) to improve my knowledge.
Anyway, thanks for that, it looks brilliant. I don't think any place that has both penguins () and tennis can go wrong!
Busta gets past Giraldo by retirement. He was leading 5-7 7-6 3-1 at the time.
That's 20 points for qualifying but such has been his success this year that one of his multiple 18 point futures wins will drop out of the total, so only 2 points added so far.
Some tough draws for qualifiers. Maybe a chance against Garica Lopez but the other three are Gilles Simon, Jerzy Janowicz or Fernando Verdasco. Welcome to the big time Busta.
He ran Janowicz, whose game is tailor-made for an indoor hard court, very very close.
Let's hope he can continue to make inroads in the 500 tournies and beyond!

I was following the scores from the end of the first set and it was a very serve dominated. There were very few BPs in the 2nd set (no breaks) and the first 15 points of the tiebreak all went with serve. The only minibreak was on MP to give Janowicz the breaker and match at 9-7.
Everyone pales into insignificance though with the great Fed about. Sportsman of the Year for the 9th time, fans' favourite for the 11th straight year and Humanitarian of the Year for the second time. We are truly blessed...
To be fair, there were one or two others on this forum who brought him to my attention. I was just lucky enough to see him play early in the year and enjoyed following his progress.

Fan Favourite is pretty pointless and "Humanitarian of the Year" seems not to require a huge amount, but the Sportsman of the Year is one the players vote for ... so to win it 9 years running is quite impressive.
It's not 9 years running, but 9th time overall, but yes, very impressive considering that the players vote and normally success breeds jealousy. But a guy who takes gamesmanship to another level with the time he takes between points won the award in 2010, so I can understand.
"Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award (voted by ATP players)
Roger Federer: Fellow players voted the Swiss as the winner of the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award for the ninth time and third year in a row. He also won the award six straight years from 2004-09. Juan Martin del Potro, David Ferrer and Rafael Nadal were also nominated in this category."
WOW THE 4 MOST SPORTING PLAYERS R ALL RANKED IN THE TOP 7 ITS SUCH A BEAYTIFUL WORLD WE LIVE IN WHERE ONLY THE NICE GUYYS SUCCEED. FEDERER WOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111
Who nominates the players for the Sportsmanship awards? The players themselves? Or the ATP? If the latter, then cynicism may be more in order; if the players, less so.
On the humanitarian side, just read the latest annual report for the Roger Federer Foundation: www.rogerfedererfoundation.org/en/foundation/annual-reports/ It gave £1.5 million in grants last year, primarily to Southern African education, though also to education projects in Ethiopia and Switzerland, and is doing long-term work with strong partners. Pretty impressive, actually. I take back my earlier comments about the low bar - and don't think the ATP did justice to what Federer and his family are actually doing in its description of why he got the award. (Though it's a bit dodgy to give it to the player, when this is clearly a whole-family thing)
I've not, historically, been an unusually strong supporter of Roger Federer. But credit where credit is due, and all that.
For some reason, this topic was the first thought that came to my head when I saw that Busta has just been given his apparent first ever ATP MD seeding at the Kitzbuhel 250. And his run includes two qualifiers straight to the QF.
