Busta is on the march again. In QR2 he has beaten 9th seed Joao Souza (WR 114) of Brazil and will play Frenchman Vincent Millot (WR 240) in the final round of Qualies.
Our only "pretend" British player in the RG men's draw, Pablo Carreno-Busta, won through his Q2 match in 3 sets, 6-1 in the last. Fairly steady progress.
I think this kid would be excellent on the clay of Croatia! If he wants to play Wimbledon, give him a WC, then refuse him exit from the country unless he switches nationalities............

Don't worry, next time I see him, I will have a word in his ear !!
"Come on Pablo, do you really want to be ranked 15th in Spain when you could be Nš2 in the UK. I know the phone number of the passport office!!"

No surprise there then
I don't think the qualifiers have been placed yet but there are some very winnable draws for the qualifiers. The only big name to play a qualifier is Federer, who will then play the winner of "qualifier" v "qualifier" in round 2.
The only other seeds to play qualifiers are Anderson, Kohlschrieber and Fognini.
Notice also that Jiri Vesely qualified - as did an unusually large number of Americans (there are 10 US men in the main draw). Interesting: I seem to remember reading somewhere that the US was putting more emphasis on clay court training. Anyone know if that's the case?

Yes, I've read a couple of things about how they've been training a lot on clay, but domestically, not in Europe
Brad Gilbert has been tweeting about it (he's been very excited about the new clutch on US men, and about Eugenie Bouchard, the canadian too) and there was something on the Roland Garros news pages too but here's a page from a couple of weeks back:
