I was wondering where the brits were heading after Thailand. With the exception of Tara, they are all down for Balikpapan in Indonesia, as are Sam and Jade. Emily has it as her 2nd choice. There is another 25K in Indonesia the following week. In the past lots of brits have played Japan then South Korea at this time of year but with limited success. Astana 25K not on the schedule this year so Lisa will need to defend her final points elsewhere. Kazakstan just seems to have a bunch of 10Ks. The Uzbek 25Ks now clash with Nottingham grass events.
Lisa 4-5 down final set from Facebook. Won first, lost second set.
Kumkhum won other SF. 0-2 final set, she took a MTO, then won the next 3 games. When is this MTO farce going to be stopped. Well intentioned, but completely abused. Perhaps calling an MTO gives the opponent a point in the next game AND the opponent is allowed to bring their coach on for advice during the break.

Lisa's 2nd 25K Final - she'll either be in the top 250 now or very close to it. (probably the latter, given the sheer number of points being handed out around the world this week)

4 3-set wins in a row for Lisa, which is very impressive in terms of both fighting spirit and match stamina. Must be hellish playing in these conditions from a physical point of view. Doubles final later against Lisa's probably exhausted SF opponent.
Kumkhum must be a strong favourite for the final, but there's nothing to lose, everything to gain and a big support team to cheer every point.
The field for next week's tournament looks significantly weaker too, so after over a week's acclimatisation, with some early success in the bag, and with a kind draw, perhaps there will be some decent points available after all.
I have to admit, I wasn't confident that Lisa would win that match, having been beaten by Plipuech on her 'home' court and now playing her in conditions that clearly should have suited the Thai more, which just makes me even more impressed that she did!
SF: WHYBOURN, Lisa (GBR) 7 267 v PLIPUECH, Peangtarn (THA) WC 428 by 6-3 2-6 7-?
FI: WHYBOURN, Lisa (GBR) 7 267 v KUMKHUM, Luksika (THA) 1 135
H2H 0-1, 4 & 2, Nonthaburi juniors 2008. Kumkhum got into the top 150 on the back of qualifying for the Australian Open and then beating Sofia Arvidsson in R1.
