27 points so far "in running" should take Ashley Hewitt to a CH, just inside the top 700.
With Tom Farquharson having added 1 more point so far and on 25 points "in running", with a very winnable L16 match in Turkey, we could when this week's points get added, have all the GB top 25 inside the top 700. Probably needs Tom to make the semis.
It can't be entirely unrelated to the much larger number of tournaments that are on this week, which thus have relatively weak draws and more chance for Brits to be seeded, but we'll take what we can get, especially after a couple of months when there have been so few events that many of them have been unusually strong and hard to glean points from. It would be fairer for everyone if the organisers could co-operate a bit more to ensure a more even distribution of tournaments throughout the year, but I doubt that's ever going to happen below main tour level.
For the men in particular, there seem to have been more positve ranking upsets than negative ones this week too - e.g. here there are 4 Brits in the QFs when only 3 were seeded and there will be at least one Brit in the SFs when no Brits were seeded in the top 4.
