Well Coric had already missed 6 or 7 BPs by the time Carpenter was 5-2 up first set, so the scoreline was probably rather misleading.
I'm glad Coric is doing well, because it should focus attention on the JTC training group, which includes 12 young players (mostly Brits) and 3 wheelchair players. I'm not entiely sure who the young Brits are who train and live with the likes of Vekic and Coric at JTC (I believe Georgie Axon is one, but I'm still trying to work out the others) - If most of this group thrive, it should alert the LTA that the model works - if it's just the minority of overseas players that flourish, it either says the GB players' attitudes are a problem, or that the raw talent level coming through grass roots tennis in the UK is still behind where it needs to be.
Let's be clear - this is a 16 year old boy (who is very gangly and nowhere near filling out) - who lives and trains much of the time in the UK, playing against one of our own 21 year old LTA "products". Very interesting.

He might be "nowhere near filling out" but he has a very good physique for a 16 year old. I would wager heavily that he spends a fair bit more time in the gym that most of the "LTA products" do and probably has a much better diet as well.
No suprise to me that Jack got beaten(see my post last night)
Cannot see Hewitt beating Kelly(assuming he beats Slabba), so all our hopes lie in the top half of the draw.
Dan Cox should win his QF, Fitzy could be a tight game, but would love a GB semi final.
I can see this being a good week for GB men, with good runs in Greece and Turkey expected and also Dan and Marzi are doing as well as expected in Bournemouth,Grasse and Ashkelon
