Week 17 - ATP 500 series - Banc Sabadell Open, Barcelona - doubles (red clay)

Sod's law, but an early opportunity to avenge this week's second-round defeat, I suppose disbelief :

R1:  Colin Fleming & Jonny Marray WR 46 (*) vs (4) Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi & Jean-Julien Rojer (PAK/NED) WR 15 (**)  bleh

(*)  35th in the race as of yesterday
(**)  third in the race

Why do you have Qureshi & Rojer as WR 4 when they have a combined ranking of 15? Also Marray & Fleming are WR 46.

Because, inexplicably ( confuse ), I mixed & matched rankings & race positions within the "equation":  Qureshi & Rojer were fourth in the race when I started the thread on Saturday & I presume my eye was distracted by their also being seeded fourth in this tournament.  In the case of Colin & Jonny, again, their combined ranking was 46th on Saturday & I simply forgot to check & amend it while I was looking up that of Peya & Soares. wink  Alles klar?  I've now made the necessary corrections.

Wow, that's a fantastic win seeing as it was quite a one sided result last week!!

Really happy for Jonny, who seems to have not done that well recently. He needs all the points he can get before Wimby.

Not including this week Jonny has amassed 1390 points since Wimbledon. Even without anything else that would put him at WR 54 he should still have a pretty decent ranking after Wimbledon whatever happens.

Colin and Jonny lost the first set 7-6(5)

Annoyingly they led *5-3, 30-0 but couldn't see it out.

Disappointing!  I was hoping to come back from lunch to find that they'd played another blinder!  cry
