In fact, Kyle has a decent-looking draw generally - potentially meeting the 8th qualifying seed in QR2 and the 4th in the FQR is as good as you can hope for if you're not seeded yourself.
I hadn't actually noticed the name Nicolás Massú (as in the former world no. 9 and Olympic champion) in Kyle's section until someone pointed it out to me on Twitter this morning. Massú beat the 4th seed yesterday, which ended a 9-match losing streak, including a R1 Futures loss to a player who (like him at the moment) is outside the top 500. The other losses were all to players in the 100-300 range though, so he would be a daunting prospect if he and Kyle both make it to the FQR.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
The main draw is out and Ward isn't playing here. Both SE positions were taken (Kuznetsov and Molchanov) so he would have had to go through qualies if he had wanted to play.
I wonder why he didn't play qualifying here. Maybe he's still feeling the effects of his DC exertions a bit and didn't want to play even more matches here when the chance of picking up points is so low.
James not playing here makes it certain that there will be no Brits other than Andy in the ATP top 250 on Monday week - in fact, the GB no. 2 will probably be ranked in the 270s.
GB 2-4 will all be very close. By my reckoning Monday week (29/4) they will have the following points
If one was as careful as to what one pinpointed as the LTA, one might enquire how 1 GB man in the top 250 ( quite a biggee ! ) and just 13 women in their top 700, ties in with this great age in British tennis that some folk from the LTA spout on about to embarrassing lengths about.
I was thinking about this earlier and a terrible realisation dawned on me. Since it was announced that Roger Draper is stepping down at Chief Executive of the LTA the rankings of 3 of our top 4 players have crashed
