Well after Oli served for the first set at *5-4, it was 6 games in a row for his opponent when Oli decided to stop (presumably).
Oli had 10 BPs, including opportunities in both sets before the Croat won his first service game to love, and then Oli retired.
I'm sure we'll get some insight on his injury on twitter in due course: nothing has been mentioned before the match. I'm also presuming that's it for the doubles too (not too fussed), and that next week might be in doubt although it would be better if he made a quick recovery.
Oli tweeted today about getting a full week's training in this week, with an early start this morning, ahead of the Italian clay $15k next week as planned.
Sounds, therefore, like his withdrawal from his match last week and the from the follow-up week 17 Egypt Futures (this week) was nothing too serious. I presume he could have played Egypt, but given the poor results from his 3 tournaments there, training does sound like a much better option.
We are almost at the end of April, and it would have been nice to see 1 or 2 stand-out performances from 1 of the "Famous 5" [Morgan-Golding-Broady-Edmund-Bambridge] by now in 2013. Hasn't happened yet. All ready to be on the sidelines cheering.
