RE: Week 15 - Challenger ($100,000) - Sarasota, FL, USA (clay)

Jamie's sticking with John at least for this coming week. wink

R1:  (qualifier) (*) vs (2) Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) WR 153 (**)

(*)  perm any one from Christian Harrison & Michael Venus/Bozo & Dev or Dino & Chad Rhoden (who he?  Some Yank or other!)/Roman Borvanov & Marek Michalicka...

(**)  though they will of course by ranked more highly than that after their triumph in Houston yesterday when the new rankings are released tomorrow.  wink  The top seeds are Booty & Johan Brunström (current WR 101).

(*) Florida is infamous for its hanging chads wink

(**) Yes, they should be in the 120s combined tomorrow

Quite right!  Yet another thing Steven overlooked in his haste to start the thread!  Duly corrected. wink

Well, it ain't gonna be Dino & Chad:  they lost to to the q2s by 3 & 2 ( cry ), nor Harrison & Venus (q1), who lost to Bozo & Dev by 4 & 4...

Would be stunned if Bozoljac and Devvarman weren't the qualifiers. And rather a dangerous pairing they are, too, for a first round match.

16.00 BST I think (just so you don't miss it!)

Indeed. For reasons that escape me I was using the time difference between the UK and Little Rock.

I thought James might be a bit tentative here, since despite this being a good draw for him, in some ways he has everything to lose, but he's being very businesslike at the moment *4-0

*5-2 to James.

James has taken 2/2 bps so far to Kyle's 1/2

1st serve %s James 48% (winning 83% on 1st, 38% on 2nd, with 2 aces and 3 dfs) and Kyle 53% (winning 70% on 1st, just 11% on 2nd, with 0 aces and 4 dfs)

James' superior serving seemed to be the difference. Both played some super tennis at times but mixed in with rather too many ugly shots. Though the Bet365 stream wasn't the best view to get a sense of what was actually happening.

L32: James Ward WR 214 beat (WC) Kyle Edmund WR 515 by 3 & 4

Not spectacularly good from either but decent from both in the end, and the kind of scoreline I'd have bet on before the match if I did that kind of thing. 7 break points each, James took 4, Kyle 2.
