Lol - nobody else seems to have noticed! It might be a bit difficult to split the thread so I have just altered the title to cover both years.
Thanks, Madeline ! (I did actually make a request for this a few pages ago !!! As I said, I have enough trouble getting the year right as it is and, with this thread, my poor brain's been exploding )
Two rounds are scheduled for tomorrow, but the second of these could be cancelled if Wimbledon decide to allocate QWCs to the last 4 (has happened occasionally in the past)
R2
(1)Emily Webley-Smith v Harriet Dart Freya Christie v (wc)Isabelle Wallace
(2)Lisa Whybourn v (wc)Jasmine Asghar (wc)Gabriella Taylor v (3)Manisha Foster
I like Emily but time for the younger players to come through so it is Harriet I am supporting especially after beating cav. Saw Emily last year at Roehampton she is good on grass but personally unless an upswing in form she will not ruffle feathers in the qualifying there if she survives here
FWIW, my picks are Harriet/Freya from the top half. Harriet is good on grass but Freya is a better all-round athlete. In the bottom half I'm going with Jasmine. She can have good days and bad days but her game is built for grass - wicked flat groundistrokes and terrific timing. On a good day not much she hits comes back on a fast court.
Random question, but where in Roehampton are the actual qualies played? At the NTC or at Roehampton club?
the qualies are played at the Bank of England Sports Centre, just down the road (south) from the NTC.
That's not the same as the Roehampton club (or what I think of as the Roehampton club) i.e. the club at the top of the golf course on the other side of the road.
