Regarding the Kyle debate I was talking about this year. I agree last year was too soon, and comparing Katy this year to Kyle last yearr then yes inconsistent.
(1)Emily Webley-Smith vs (wc)Aimee Gibson Naomi Cavaday vs Harriet Dart Beth Askew vs Freya Christie (wc)Isabelle Wallace vs (4)Lucy Brown
(2)Lisa Whybourn vs (wc)Katie Swan Eden Silva vs (wc)Jasmine Asghar (wc)Gabriella Taylor vs Jessica Simpson (wc)Maia Lumsden vs (2)Manisha Foster
Top half is much stronger. Particularly the top quarter with Harriet, Naomi and Em all in there.
Depending on how her shoulder is, Lisa could well come through this.
Cav v Harriet should be interesting If Naomi is planning a comeback wouldn't be great for her to pre qualify hope lisa does well but Katie swan good prospect
Some interesting match ups, and for differing reasons, there's quite a number there that I'd be very happy to see come through. So I guess just, may the best ladies win.
Very tough top half. Does anybody know if Cav is making a proper comeback? If finalists get through I'll go with Cav and Swan. If it's the semi finalists as it has been before I'll go with Cav, Christie, Swan and Foster! What does everyone else think?

OK, challenge accepted: against my better judgement, I'm going for the youth-fest of Freya v Katie Swan in the final.
And for the semis, Naomi and Manisha (although I'd like to chose someone else apart from Manisha - can't see her doing that well on grass - but can;t really see one of the others winning).
So pretty much the same as you . . .
For a 'joker', I'd like Eden and Emily WS to do well.

Very interesting I would say. Naomi was in Greece and Egypt with Harriet as her coach and if she is not really planning a comeback! presumably is still her coach.

They don't actually play the final. A wild card is awarded to the winner of both the top and bottom half of the draw. IMO, top half much much stronger.
I reckon the winner of Cav v Harriet will make it though the top half and Katie S will come through the bottom.
I'm still not sure how Cav made it in though. I can't see that she'd make top 10 using any ranking list that I'm aware of, even when accounting for injuries and players that are prioritising other things.

From the other thread, I'd reckoned that they must have worked their way through the top sign-ups, as per WTA rankings. And then used national rankings. And as Naomi's 1.1 nationally, presumably she was the top non-WTA-ranked player? Do you not think that could have been the logic?

Actually, that does make sense - I hadn't considered that they'd used the ratings rather than the rankings. It may be a debate for another time but for me the ratings are a nonsense and don't particularly reflect players' current form. (For instance, Naomi B and JoKo are rated lower than EWS, Anna Smith and Anna Fitzpatrick).
I think it would have been much fairer to use WR as the first criterion and then British Ranking rather than rating.
It seems that most folk expect Freya and Manisha to come through their seemingly relatively easier quarters, but then lose the SF ( effectively the FQR ).
The potentially good news for them though is that Q WCs may well go to at least one women's losing SF here.

From what I remember, that is indeed the logic.
Lisa is happy
"I'm sooo happy right now I could burst. Not only did I win but I was actually on the tennis court playing a match and loving every minute!!"
She beat Katie Swan 2 & 5.
