Defending finalist points down the drain...

I expected a win & a loss from the two quarter-final matches (while hoping against hope for two wins wink ), but not the ones that eventually materialised!  disbelief

SF:  Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) WR 153 vs Nicolás Almagro & Rubén Ramírez H (ESP/ESP) WR 455

I don't think that's going to be as straightforward as the disparity in ranking would suggest.  no  That said (& I sincerely hope I'm not jinxing their chances by saying this ), Jamie & John do seem to be gelling as a team...

I tuned into bet365 just in time to hear the umpire say "Game set match Mary Pierce" (it really did sound like that with the American accent) then realised it was the right match after all wink

It'll be Jamie's 13th ATP main tour final (7-5) and John's first, but he did manage to reach no less than 11 Challenger finals last year, winning the majority.

I dozed off in my chair shortly after the match got under way.  Delighted to see that someone more alert than I was still on hand to record a victory for the boys!   biggrin

I think this is the first clay court ATP title by a Brit since Henman in Monte Carli in 2004.

Very bad game from both on Jamie's serve and they are broken to love, Mike Bryan creaming a return down the line to finish it. 0-4* down.

Scintillating return by Peers at 15-30 sets up 3 break points but they can't take any.

*0-5
