So Laura again manages to sneak the last seeding position. Having done that, could have got a better draw.

Very winnable match near her best, very loseable if not.

I mistakenly thought she had withdrawn from this tournament so am happy she hasn't and intrigued to see how she gets on. As Indiana said, considering seeded, bit of a tough 1st round.

Laura has had some very good luck with draws this year, but not this time. Given that she is seeded there weren't many worse draws for a clay tournament.

On the other hand as with most matches, if Laura plays well it will be enough to win.

Agreed.

However, looking through Little Miss Cholesterol's (LDL) record so far this year, it's possibly not as bad as my instant reaction thought.

LDL is hardly in stellar form, having the same sort of largely nondescript year as Laura.

Other than a win over (a lower ranked) Pennetta in Acapulco, there'sw precious little to write home about.

That victory against WR 65 is easily her best of the year - she has no current wins above her ranking in 2013.

In fact she's only won 3 other matches, and one of those was a Torro-Flor RET.

Furthermore, LDL has already lost on clay this year to WR133 Karin Knapp.

That said she has generally been losing to top 50 players; well, and twice to the super-ringer that is Kuznetsova at the moment.

So, definitely a tough draw, but not perhaps as bad as it initially seemed. There are some players in the main draw ranked more lowly than LDL who would arguably provide a greater threat - either Pliskova, Beck et al.

Interesting reading about Robbo's first opponent blob, it's like I was reading about Robbo.

I'm not too optimistic as she hasn't been playing up to her ranking as yet this year, but hope that I'm proved wrong.

Thanks for the info blob and I have to agree that LDL sounds out of form in a similar way to Laura, however Laura has begun to show flickers of improvement.

Im actually really glad shes moved back to red clay to get some more practice before the fed cup, particularly now she is under extra pressure to perform there thanks to Hevs recent diagnosis. I think there will be a stream for the event and a decent chance Laura will get a show court so lets hope for some good tennis!

Laura is playing tomorrow in the evening session, so 2nd match after 6pm BST on Center Court

I think Eurosport coverage only starts on Tuesday but hopefully there will be a stream.

Bookies can't decide who will win this pricing both at 5/6

The match before Laura's has now finished. Looking forward to being able to see Laura play for the first time in a while (edit: or maybe not as feed has stopped cry), but can't say I'm confident of a win here.

Live stream here for tonight's match: http://lsh.streamhunter.eu/static/popups/144470980341080.html

Having seen a few rallies, it looks like its playing quite quick for a clay court, so more hopeful than I was.
