Unfortunately on this form I can't see any way Josh will secure his Wimbledon WC by way of the (as we know, rather dubiously and selecively applied) LTA top 250 ranking criterion, and I also don't see any reason why they are likely to do him too many favours generally.
He's also down for weeks 16 and 17 in Greece, which would be 12 $10k tournaments in a row in 2013. Still no CH entries at all (which must have been part of the original plan - well at least you'd hope so, otherwise it really makes no sense) and it won't be long before the first Nottingham Challenger comes around at this rate.
Now maybe if Josh had started 2013 well, he'd have gone down the hard court Challenger route by now, and perhaps he sees $10ks as the only sensible way of playing himself back into form. There's a rock and hard place scenario developing here.
I think Josh G and Jamie B need some change of plan or radical shift in approach, because Plan A isn't working and so there's not much to lose at this point. Wishing him well - not nice to see.
Actually Josh isn't down to play in week 17. He needs some big points next week just to stand still because he has another 18 points coming off at the start of week 18. An early defeat next week will see him close to being outside the top 300.
As for Josh - his singles form is amost as bad as Mel South's. There is no way he deserves a WC for Wimbledon and i wouldn't even give him a WCQ for Queens.
Re the question of players that hit a bad rut of form, korriban, they much more than anyone will want to reverse this and I am sure will be considering what changes of plan / tactical changes they need to make along with coaches, and have very probably tried stuff, at least in practice, with no real joy.
They will also know how they played when getting their best results so possibly think ( maybe correctly) it is more a question of keeping working hard to iron out the clear glitches in execution compared to previous times, and they will hopefully get back on a better path.
Whatever, I can't imagine such ad Josh or Jamie aren't pretty continuosly trying to change their own fortunes.
